What makes this chapel different from any other is the miracle that happened in its stairway.
The chapel was constructed near the end of the 19thcentury (1873).When it was ready the sisters noticed tha lack of a stairway that would take them to the second floor.
An unknown person knocked the door of the chapel the last day. He said he was a carpenter and that he could build the stairway.
He built, without the help of anybody, the stairway that is considered a wonder of carpentry.
Nobody knows how it supported itself. The stairway has no central support.
Then, the carpenter, that did not use nails nor glue to construct the stairway, disappeared without leaving behind any clue. He did not wait for the pay.
A legend was born in the city of Santa Fé, that turned out to believe that the carpenter was truly St. Joseph...
… sent by Jesus the Christ to agree to the pleas of the sisters. Since then, the stairway came to be called out “miraculous”, and was transformed into a center of peregrination.
There are 3 mysteries here, explains the spokesperson of the chapel: The first mystery is that no one knows until today who was the man who built the stairway.
The second mystery is that architects, engineers and scientists say that they do not undestand how the the stairway is balanced.
And the third mystery: Where did the wood come from. There were already made all kind of analyses and does not exist anything close to it in the region.
A detail: The stairway has 33 steps, the age of Christ. M. Gallo
