Problem • Education • CU has created an Information Systems department to address industry demand • Enrollment is at 50% of desired levels • The department is at risk of being canceled and needs support to stay running • Industry • Supply of qualified IT professionals is down • Due to tech bubble burst and outsourcing scare students are no longer focusing on IT • Companies like MS, GMAC, and Match want to demonstrate IT vitality Aaran Secor, Jason Latimer, David Scully, Court Rye

Objectives • Raise enrollment at CU in the Information Systems degree track • Target underclassmen so they can get on track to graduate with a degree, not just a few classes • Attract women, who are traditionally less involved in IT • Debunk the stigma surrounding the IT industry, foster student enthusiasm • Spread awareness of sponsor companies recruiting efforts in the IT field Aaran Secor, Jason Latimer, David Scully, Court Rye

A Different Approach • Project concept pre-dated student team involvement • Project manager (Professor Marlatt) determined the action to address the problem • Collaborated with Microsoft to create the Future Potential in Information Technology Career Event at CU • Professor Marlatt arranged the menu, venue, speakers, and sponsors! Student Team Role • Students were introduced to the FPIT concept on Jan 18th • Our group approached Professor Marlatt to take on the FPIT project • January 19th work begins • Scope: Create and implement an IMC for the FPIT event • Meet attendance goals, deliver ~200 underclassmen to the event Aaran Secor, Jason Latimer, David Scully, Court Rye

They spent their own money and utilized personal contacts to acquire an Xbox 360 with the intent of promoting the event and Microsoft.
