  1. GART's Case Studies in Diverse Fields

  2. Case Studies & Solutions ? Cutting Costs by 81% with Azure Spot VMs? ? Infrastructure Optimization and Data Management in Healthcar? ? Infrastructure as Code with Nomad for High-Performance Computing

  3. Cutting Costs by 81%: Azure Spot VMs Drive Cost Efficiency for Jewelry AI Vision Geo: Industry: Technologies: Storage, Azure Virtual Network, PostgreSQL Thailand Jewelry manufacturing Azure Spot Virtual Machines, Azure

  4. The Challenge A leading Thai jewelry manufacturer wanted to optimize production by analyzing worker activity across 200-250 workstations. 2-2.5 TB Daily Video Processing a staggering 2TB of video data daily from each workstation poses a significant computational challenge. AI-powered Insights The client needs to extract key details from video data (feature extraction and classification) to identify patterns and inefficiencies in worker performance. Cost optimization The initial Network Video Recorder (NVR) solution proved to be quite expensive to operate. With 200 workstations each recording 9 hours of video daily, this amounted to approximately 1800 hours of video data that needed to be processed overnight. The client required an optimized solution for handling such large volumes of data in a cost-effective manner. Secure Video Data Safeguarding sensitive worker activity and production data is crucial (compliance & security).

  5. Our Solution We calculated that the NVR solution proposed by the developers is quite expensive. It would require a lot of CPU to make the project financially viable
We proposed a significant cost optimization for this AI vision processing infrastructure by leveraging Azure Spot Virtual Machines (VMs). Spot VMs offer unutilized Azure compute capacity at deep discounts compared to traditional on-demand pricing.

  6. Infrastructure Costs Estimation with Spot Instances Here’s a breakdown of the estimated cost savings? ?? Original Cost (On-demand pricing): $5,363 per month (as shown in the table? ?? VMSS Cost with Spot VMs: $430 per month (significant reduction from $4,700? ?? Total Estimated Cost with Spot VMs: $1,100 per month Projected Savings: $4,263 per month

  7. Additional Benefits: ? Scalability Azure’s cloud infrastructure allows scaling Spot VMs up or down as needed, ensuring efficient resource utilization? ? Performance Spot VMs deliver high performance ideal for demanding workloads like video processing. Deployment diagram

  10. Infrastructure Optimization and Data Management in Healthcare About A health tech company that tracks changes in the brain overtime and provides personalized recommendations. Project specifics The need to manage patients'data (e.g., x-rays, medicalhistory), integrate with medicalinstitutions, and scale dataanalysis capacity quickly. Gart’s mission on the project Manage data in compliance with HIPAA Facilitate secure integration with other networks (e.g., hospitals). Design infrastructure architecture to withstand peak loads.

  13. Infrastructure as Code with Nomad for High- Performance Computing About S-Cube, a software development company creating products based on waveform inversion algorithms for building Earth models in the energy industry. Project specifics The project involves optimizing AWS performance for massively parallel computing using Nomad Cluster. It includes migrating from on-premises to AWS cloud, cost optimization, and ensuring flexibility for containerized and non-containerized workloads across cloud and on-premises environments. Gart’s mission on the project Modernize infrastructure management Introduce Nomad for workload orchestration Improve scalability and resilience Validate proof of concept
