Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) PSP therapeutics pipeline in 2017 The study analyzed that PSP therapeutics pipeline comprises approximately 14 drug candidates in different stages of development. The exact cause of PSP is unknown, but it has been observed that PSP is the accumulation of abnormal deposits of the tau protein in nerve cells in the brain, and eventual toxicity in nerve cells in the brain stem. The appearance of deposits of the microtubule-associated tau protein termed ‘neurofibrillary tangles’ is a common feature of tauopathies and development of progressive supranuclear palsy.
