  2. The Densuș Church (also known as St Nicholas' Church) in the village of Densuș, Hunedoara County, is one of the oldest Romanian churches still standing. It was built in the 7th century with additions made in the 13th century on the site of a 2nd century Roman temple, with some materials from the Dacian Sarmizegetusa fortress.

  8. The spa was founded by Romans in 102 CE. During their rule, it was one of empire's most fashionable resorts, visited by aristocrats from all the Roman world. Many ruins of aqueducts, thermae, monuments have been erected during that time. Six statues of Hercules have been unearthed since 18th century. A copy of one of them stands in the center of the old town.

  9. After the Romans, the resort was abandoned for more than 1500 years. The Habsburg empire refounded the spa in 1718 preserving its ancient Roman name, "Hercule's Baths". During the Austrian rule (1718-1918) somptuous Baroque and Neoclassical buildings have been constructed.

  11. A symbol of Bãile Herculane Resort, Hercules's statue presents a bronze sculpture the hero dressed in the skin of the lion Nemeia , holding a club on the shoulder. The statue was installed in 1847. One of the main attractions of Herculane is the  Domogled Natural Park, where you can soar into the varieties of animals and plants species. And the most exciting thing is the impressive number of 1500 butterfly species that can be seen on Domogled mountain.

  17. Statue of Decebalus near Orşova, Romania

  18. The Statue of Dacian king Decebalus is a 40-m high statue that is the tallest rock sculpture in Europe. It is located on the Danube's rocky bank, near the city of Orşova, Romania. The idea belonged to Romanian businessman and historian Iosif Constantin Drãgan and it took 10 years (1994–2004) for twelve sculptors to finish it, at a cost of over one million dollars. Right in front of the statue, but on the Serbian shore facing Romania, there is an ancient memorial plaque (Tabula Traiana) commemorating the victories of the Roman Empire over the Dacian kingdom in 105.

It was the longest bridge in the Roman Empire, which permited the passage of the Romans to conquer Dacia.

  22. The monastery of Hurezu has been inscribed by UNESCO on its list of World Heritage Sites.

  23. The Monastery of Horezu was founded in 1690 and richly endowed by the Cantacuzene Prince Constantin Brancovan. He and his family were responsible for the creation of many monastic ensembles and churches in Wallachia, paintings, richly adorned with wall sumptuous iconostases, and other decorations.
