What does the term ‘hero’ mean? • In your working groups you must create a sequence of five slides that define the word hero. • You can use words such as strength, courage, selflessness etc. or you can use words such as fireman, soldier etc. • You have five minutes to come up with your slides. You need to think about, levels, proxemics and you need to have a caption for each slide. You have five minutes, off you go …
Hero • Shortly I will ask a member of the class to come up onto the stage and create a pose that shows they are a hero. • Firstly, as a class we need to suggest five things that they have done to make them a hero. What are they? (Volunteer please) • What should our hero be called? • What would be the worst possible name for a hero? • Does a name define you? • If you could, how many of you would change your name?

Key features • Star actors, rather than the films themselves, have accounted for most box-office success • Standard features of Bollywood films include formulaic (set structure) story lines • Expertly choreographed fight scenes • Spectacular song-and-dance routines • Emotionally-charged melodrama (over the top acting) • Larger-than-life heroes.

Rehearsal (slide 1) • In your working groups you need to create a scene were a character is talking about their ambitions • Think about where the scene is set – how can you show this? • What do they want to achieve? What is preventing them? • What characters were supportive, which were not and why?
Rehearsal (slide 2) - adding humour • In the scene the characters play for laughs. They do big, over the top movements and gestures and have synchronised mannerisms. • Revisit your scene and put these in. You have five minutes …
