    6. Fort Lauderdale Chapter Orient Board Members to their roles & responsibilities through learning based activities. Analyze chapter priorities/vision/mission through discussion and survey’s results. Identify strategies to gain a better understanding of Chapter By-Laws and important dates. Align the responsibilities and tasks of each function with the vision/mission/business plan of the chapter. Create Action Plans for each board function that aligns to the overall chapter goals and strategies. 6

Informal - New Member Orientation (ongoing /monthly) Formal - Annual Leadership Academy 2010 Executive Board (EB) Leadership Transition Process August 10: Email to 2011 EB members August 10 - September 10: President-elect to meet individually with each 2011 EB member September 13: One hour meeting with 2011 EB before 2010 monthly EB meeting October 1-2: Attend ALC, Arlington, VA November 12: 2010 - 2011 EB dinner with spouse/significant other November 13: 2010 - 2011 EB Retreat November 13 - December 31: Final prep for 2011!

Learned from past mistakes and the 2009 “perfect storm” Spend time up front Forming Focus on partnerships between roles Use a collaboration workspace (Huddle) Document storage Brainstorming and stage setting Meetings can stay focused on decision making and strategy 8
