  2. Independent opinions regarding an employee’s disability status and provide comment on their functional abilities and/or limitations. This includes the coordination of physical and/or mental health assessments. Follow-up assessments may be required on a case by case basis. In-person assessments with appropriate Experts such as neuro-musculoskeletal or mental and behavioural health practitioners produce unbiased and objective reports. The assessment assists in determining disability status, attendant care needs, catastrophic entitlement and medical/rehabilitative requirements to return to pre-accident state. Peer and multi-disciplinary Insurers Exams/Independent Medical Examinations of individuals who have been injured in motor vehicle accidents. Reports may provide the objective evidence needed to make informed decisions regarding entitlement to medical and rehabilitation or disability benefits.

Types of assessments and work may include: • Insurers Examinations (Section 44), • Treatment plan reviews, In-home Assessments, • Assessment of Attendant Care/Form 1, • Functional Abilities Evaluations, • Work site Assessments, • Physical Demands Analyses, • Transferable Skills Analyses, • Labour Market Surveys, • Psycho-vocational Assessments peer- and multi-disciplinary Insurers Exams.

  4. This can require and include a complete review of the case-to-date, including medical reports, tests, treatments and available opinions. Based on a complete medical history, functional inquiry and physical examination, an opinion regarding the diagnosis, treatment and prognosis is created. Recommendations are made regarding rehabilitation, treatment and other case management issues relevant to the specific referral. In complex cases, a multi-specialty physician may be required for the case. The purpose of the exam is to determine the nature and extent of an injury. The findings of the examination are documented in a formal written report that address specific questions associated with the diagnosis and treatment.
