It used to be the chief base for activities carried out by our freedom fighters. Presently, Lansdowne is home to the command office of Garhwal Rifles division of the Indian Army. The town got its name from the Viceroy of India Lord Lansdowne who reigned here from 1888 to 1894. This scenic town is located in the PauriGarhwal district of Uttarakhand state.
