Pyramid Logistics Provides Over 50 Trucks of Trade Show Transportation to E3 June 2017

The Electronic Entertainment Expo is the premier international event for the gaming industry, held in Los Angeles, California. It is currently held in June every year. Pyramid Logistics was employed by many major contributors to provide trade show transportation and logistics. Pyramid Logistics is a leading tradeshow logistics and transportation company, that can get merchandise and displays anywhere in the world on time and in safety. For the E3 this year they transported more than 50 trucks filled with merchandise, equipment and displays for companies including; Activision, SEGA, Turtle Beach, THQ Nordic Games, and Bandi Namco Entertainment.

Thisyear’sgamingexpohad68,000attendeeswith189exhibitorsfromover100countries.E3showcases newtechnologiesandproductsforcomputer,videoandmobilegamesandrelatedproducts.ThefirstE3startedasabreakofffromothertrade showsintendedfortheelectronicsandcomputerindustries.TheEntertainmentSoftwareAssociation(ESA),theExpo’sorganizers,beganasan organizedresponsetotheneedforaratingssystemforvideogames.CreatingESA,unifiedthevideogameindustryandavoluntarystandardrating systemwasadopted.ThisratingssystemwaslaterapprovedbytheU.S.Congress.Videogamepublishersandretailerswerenotsatisfiedwiththe wayvideogamesweremarginalizedattheothertradeshows,andinresponse,industryretailerswantedavideogamespecifictradeshow.E3was inauguratedin1995attheLosAngelesConventionCenterwithmorethan40,000attendees.Itwasthebiggesteventinthevideogameindustry. Theeventgrewsomuchthatby2006therewere60,000-70,000attendees.Retailersandexhibitorscomplainedthatwithsomanyconsumersin attendance,itwasdifficulttoreachjournalistsandconductthebusinessthattheywerehopingtoaccomplish.TheExpowasdownsizedand restructured.Attendancewasrestrictedtomembersoftheindustryandmedia(journalists)only,withoutincludingconsumers.Withlower attendanceandnoconsumers,therewaslittleword-of-mouthbeingspreadandalmostnoexternalmediacoverage.Thisresultedinreducing visibilityand“buzz”forthegamepublishers,theoppositeofwhattheywantedtoaccomplish. By2009consumershadbeenwelcomebutlimitedbythesaleoftickets.In2009theattendancewascappedat45,000.NintendoandElectronic Artswerenotshowcased.MicrosoftandSonyheldpre-E3eventsandshowcasednewgamesforthepre-disclosednewgamesystems.Since2015 ESAhassoughtwaystobringthepublictotheevent,whichtheydiscovered,resultedinmorepublicitythroughword-of-mouthbythe“gamers”. Thisyear15,000passeswereavailableforthepublic,allofthemsold.Intotal68,000peopleattended.Thisnumbercausedtoomuchcrowdingon thetradeshowfloorandcreatedtoomanyfloormanagementissues,itwasreported.ESAhascontractedwiththeLosAngelesConventionCenter until2019.BecauseofallthetechnologyrequiredfortheExpo,modernizationisneededforthevenueaswellasotherupgradestothefacility. Goingforward,ESAmayconsiderotheroptionsfortheE3venue,astheattendanceanddemandforuptodatetechnologycontinues.
