1. Hose Reel Drum and Hose Pipe A hose reel drum is a cylindrical spindle made of metal or fibreglass used to store hose pipes. Depending on where the hose reel drum is being installed (garden, building, or industry), hose reel drums are available in various sizes. A hosepipe is a flexible tube designed to carry water from one place to another place. Both hose reel drum & hose pipe are necessary for every building. A fire fighting hose reel is designed to be used as a quick-response method for fighting fires at the early stages. It is usually the first piece of attack by anybody in the building or the general public place. Hose reels are ideal for class A fires (paper, textiles, wood, plastics, and rubber). It should not be used in case of electrical fires (Class C fire). Hose Reel Drum Usage Hose reel drums are used to keep the hose pipe. It can either be fixed permanently on a wall (i.e., wall-mounted) or portable (attached to a truck). Since they are connected to the main water supply, they provide a virtually unlimited amount of water 24/7, 365 days a year. Hose Pipe Usage Hosepipes (or hoses) are used at various places. Their applications include, •A Garden hose is used to water plants in the garden or lawn. •A rigid hose is used to water crops in agriculture. •Air hoses carry air from air tanks or a surface compressor in underwater diving. •Metal hoses are used to move water around a building. •Automotive hoses are used in automobiles to move fluids around for hydraulics, lubrication, and cooling. •Hose pipes are used in the oil industry to move liquids under high pressures. Apart from these applications, hose reel drums and pipes are used to extinguish a fire in buildings, factories, and other places. They are mandatory in every indoor facility as they are the first weapon during a fire breakout.
