  2. Organize Class Binder • Syllabus in front • 1st section: Warm-ups (with notebook paper) • 2nd section: Classwork (paper) • Homework (paper)

  3. Classwork: Lab Safety • General precautions: • Follow all instructions • Always have permission • No horseplay • Never eat or drink in the lab • Keep a clean work space

  4. Lab safety • Dress Code • Wear safety goggles when working with chemicals, glassware, and hear sources • Wear lab coat when working with corrosive chemicals • Tie back long hair or anything that my hang down (jewelry) • Never wear open shoes

  5. Lab Safety • First Aid and Heating, fire and chemical safety • Report all accidents, injuries, or fires to the teacher • Keep combustible materials away from flames • Never point the mouth of a test tube towards yourself or anyone else • Use oven mits or tongs to pick up a container that is heated • Never touch, taste or smell chemicals • Pour chemicals over a sink or container • Never pour water into an acid • Never handle broken glassware

  6. End of experiment • Unplug any equipment • clean-up • dispose of waste materials • Wash Hands

  7. Draw a lab safety rule to display in the lab!
