Mapping Early Care and Education in Boston West Zone

Purpose. To use mapping as a strategy to eliminate transportation as a barrier to children receiving special education services.. Methodology. The maps in this document were created in MapInfo.The community-based centers are current as of 3/4/06 and were downloaded from the Dept of Early Education and Care (www.eec.state.ma.us/kr_regionallist.aspx)The list of family child care providers are current as of 3/21/06 and came from Child Care Choices of Boston's list of active licensed providers.T9452

    1. Mapping Early Care and Education in Boston West Zone Created by Boston EQUIP For the Comprehensive Services Committee of the Boston Community Partnerships for Children

    3. Methodology The maps in this document were created in MapInfo. The community-based centers are current as of 3/4/06 and were downloaded from the Dept of Early Education and Care (www.eec.state.ma.us/kr_regionallist.aspx) The list of family child care providers are current as of 3/21/06 and came from Child Care Choices of Boston’s list of active licensed providers. The list of Boston Public Elementary Schools [EECs, ELCs, K-5s and K-8s] is current as of 3/31/06 and was received from the BPS Strategic Planning dept. The first circle around the public school has a distance of .25 miles, the second ring is .5 miles. A separate PowerPoint has been created for each zone. The slides are organized alphabetically by public school.
