Financial Aid Application Process: • 2011-12 FAFSA – www.fafsa.ed.gov • 2011-12 Institutional Application and Credit Policy Statement • Federal Direct Loan Master Promissory Notes and Entrance Counseling - www.studentloans.gov • Check SOLAR for “to do” items • Complete “to do” items

  3. What else should I be doing? Health Information: • Make appointment with your PCP for physical exam and completion of SOM Health Form • Titers – Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella and Hep B • Meningitis Statement on SOLAR • Completed health form must be submitted by August 1 for Fall semester registration http://www.stonybrookmedicalcenter.org/som/prospectivestudents

  4. 2011-12 First Year Cost of Attendance NYS residents: $48,418* Out of state residents: $72,338* For breakdown: http://www.stonybrookmedicalcenter.org/som/financialaid Includes tuition/fees; room/board; books/supplies; transportation expenses; personal expenses/health care *subject to change

Financial Aid Awards • Posted to your SOLAR account • You’ll receive an e-mail from SOLAR when awards are posted and ready to accept • On SOLAR – Accept/Reduce/Decline • Awards are disbursed per semester First disbursement: August 24 Second disbursement: January 4 • Billed charges paid directly first • Refunds for living expenses can be direct deposited or issued by paper check. • Direct Deposit happens w/in 24 hours

Sample disbursement process Full award acceptance: $48,420 Semester Disbursement amount: $24,210 Semester tuition/fees: $13,100 $24,210 - $13,100 = $11,110 $11,110 to be used for your living expenses from end of August through end of January Second disbursement/refund to be used for your living expenses from February through June

HSC Parking Bit of a problem – not enough parking spaces for early months of academic year Limited number of HSC Garage Access cards will be available to new students at start of academic year Priority will be to car pool groups – First Group Project!! Alternate Parking – South P-Lot. Bus to HSC Details to follow as summer progresses

  9. Things to do this summer Join the Class of 2105 Facebook group Once housing is nailed down, work on car pool groups Familiarize yourself with SOLAR Spend time outside – you’ll know why soon enough
