  4. Focus Lesson: Similes • Background: similes • Pre-reading for the main idea • Whole Class Reading: p. 430

  5. Focus Lesson: Similes • Write a poem about the manufactured item you described in your Quickwrite notes. Use at least one simile that compares your subject to something that is alive. Include or draw images that appeal to at least two senses. Will you title your poem after the subject of your poem (“A Long Red Car”) or after the living thing you compare it to (“Shark”)?
