PLANNING PROCESS FOR ATHLETIC FIELD RENOVATIONS November 5, 2007 BOE asked for a report on the condition of the athletic fields from the Athletic Director, Drew Cronin November-December 2007 Superintendent formed a committee and directed the athletic Director to seek input from coaches, teachers, community athletic groups, booster clubs, student-athletes and community members January 7, 2008 Athletic Director, Drew Cronin addressed BOE on the condition of fields January 23, 2008 Received input from various athletic groups January 28, 2008 BOE directed the Superintendent to prepare an agreement with an architect for the improvements and renovations to the District athletic fields to be presented at the February 11, 2008 meeting and to start notification process of public hearing on February 25, 2008 February 11, 2008 The BOE authorized McDonald & Monterose Architects, L.L.P., for the preparation of a report and descriptive information, which sets forth the detailed scope of work, estimated costs and SEQRA resolution requirements for district wide field renovation projects. February 25, 2008 Public Hearing – Guests speakers included Parks & Recreations Director, Don McKay and Jim Amen, Athletic Director at Cold Spring Harbor. April 29, 2008 The BOE directed the Superintendent to engage the District’s Bond Counsel to prepare a resolution that stipulates the field upgrades as summarized by the plan brought forward by the administrative team to include Northport High School, East Northport Middle School, Northport Middle School and William J. Brosnan School. May 5, 2008 BOE approved SEQRA Resolutions relating to renovations and improvements to the District’s outdoor athletic fields. BOE adopted resolution to authorize a bond proposition of $8,975,000 to be placed before the voters on June 24, 2008. June 16, 2008 Public hearing June 24, 2008 Bond Proposition vote – was defeated
PLANNING PROCESS FOR ATHLETIC FIELD RENOVATIONS August 2008 Superintendent and bond committee met to develop revised options for the Board of Education August 25, 2008 Options for a revised bond sent to Board of Education September 8, 2008 The Board of Education received input from community and staff regarding the options and a revised bond to be presented to the community. September 22, 2008 The Board of Education discussed the options, received further input from community members and voted to put a revised bond proposition for a vote on November 18, 2008 September 24, 2008 The Board of Education adopts a resolution to authorize a revised bond proposition in the amount of $8,190,000 to be placed before the voters on Tuesday, November 18, 2008.
