    1. “Underlayments”

    3. Underlayment Requirements

    4. Shark Skin Comp Synthetic Nail Down Regular Roofing Nails Corrosion Resistant Staples Plastic Cap Nails 10 SQ Roll at 38 lbs. Exposure of 6 Months Warranty for 25 Years

    5. Shark Skin Ultra SA High Temp Peal and Stick Broom or Roll Down Split Release Backer 5 SQ Roll at 65 lbs. Exposure of 12 Months Warranty for 50 Years

    6. Shark Skin Ultra SA Self-Adhered Roofing underlayment For use as secondary protection from driven rain and ice dams 60 mils thick composed of special elastomeric modified bitumen Resists high temperatures

    7. Benefits Protects from ice back-up Protects from driven rain Easy to apply Cost effective Low Perm Slip Resistant Self-sealing Engineered asphalt technology

    8. Substrates

    9. Installation Procedure Shark Skin Ultra SA must be bonded to a properly prepared substrate. Surface must be completely dry and free of contaminants (saw dust, dirt, oils) Installer is responsible for determining acceptable substrate surface.

    10. Shark Skin Installation

    11. When To Use Primer Over Dusty Poli-Iso Insulation Damp Substrate Contaminates present on surface WHEN IN DOUBT PRIME !!!

    12. Primer 600 or Aqua Tack Use 600 primer in all areas except California Auqa Tack is VOC compliant

    13. Application Temp Application temperature is critical with any self-adhesive membrane. Temperature should be 50 degrees and rising ( this does not mean a high of 50 degrees for the day)

    14. Underlayment vs. Waterproofing Shark Skin Ultra SA is designed to act as a secondary protection layer in the event that the primary waterproofing should fail. Shark Skin Ultra SA is not designed to be a waterproofing rather as a watershed.

    15. Exposure Time Since Shark Skin Ultra SA is not to be considered the primary waterproofing strict time limits must be put on the exposure of the membrane to the elements. 12 months is the absolute maximum number of days to be left exposed. Mechanical attachment may be required if the product is to be left exposed longer than 10 days. Mechanical attachment along the entire side lap and head laps will help lessen the risk of wind damage.

    16. Beware Of Dew Care should be taken to ensure that Shark Skin Ultra SA is not installed over any moisture early in the morning. If this product is installed over any moisture it will not adhere. If at all possible try limiting the installation from 10:00am and later.

    17. High Temp OR Shingle Underlayment Shark Skin Ultra SA is specifically designed for the high temperature application under metal roofs up to 260 degrees. With the chemical make-up of the high temp product it will not be as sticky as a shingle underlayment. In no case should you use a shingle underlayment under metal roofs. It is not designed for the extreme temperatures attained under a metal system.

    18. Membrane Installation Installation of Shark Skin Ultra SA membranes occur when the release film is removed and the self-adhesive underside is matted onto the approved substrate using applied pressure.

    19. Membrane Installation Start at the low point of the roof. Valley details should be installed first. Installs horizontal just like standard felt paper installation. Peel back 1-2 ft. of the release film and align the roll. Continue to peel the release film from the membrane up the slope.

    20. Membrane Installation Pressure must be applied to the entire surface of the membrane to ensure contact with the substrate. Special Attention should be given to the side and end laps to be sure they a sealed. Any air pockets or voids can be repaired at this time.

    21. Storage It is imperative that Shark Skin Ultra SA be stored inside under cover. Avoid prolonged storage above 90 degrees

    22. Precautions Slippery when wet Always wear fall protection Release liners are slippery. remove from work area immediately. Do not leave folded edge without metal flashing Do not install over old roof coverings Provide proper roof ventilation Repair holes, fishmouths, tears and damage with a round patch of membrane. Cover the damaged area 6” in each direction

    23. Liquid Flashing Kits
