Considering Core Tenets Federal Framework Overall improvement of the quality, safety and efficiency of healthcare HITECH – Advance the design, development and operation of a nationwide health information technology infrastructure that allows for the electronic use and exchange of information. Achieve Meaningful Use through 3 stage gates Each person in the US has a health record by 2014 Align to all Federal Privacy Requirements as outlined in HITECH Core NJ Healthcare Tenets New Jersey will be a national leader in HIT NJ will exceed all federal guidelines of meaningful use NJ wants to reduce healthcare costs through HIT HIT vision achieved in 3 years Public health monitoring – Leverage data to monitor health status Population health protection – Leverage data to protect population Retool and develop job market based on HIT Providers will experience increase in reimbursements due to state savings Fully integrate Behavioral Health and Addiction Services data with clinical data NJ will highlight/focus on care of the elderly – long term care NJ will highlight/focus on pediatric care NJ citizens will have full access to their medical data and an electronic interaction with their providers.
