Surviving A Game of Poker as a Newbie Playing poker is cool nowadays. A lot of people who missed out on Poker boom; and never took time out to understand and wouldn’t know what to do if a game of poker struck up at their friend’s place or local gatherings, normally one would avoid being dragged into a game entirely, for the fear of either coming across as a dud or fear of losing, well don’t sweat that. Here are a few pointers to get you started and not stuff the game amongst your peers or friends and hopefully not get taken or ripped off by anyone. That being said, I do mean hopefully with this article you can at least get the basics down so that the next time someone bust into a game of Poker in any of the social gatherings you are equipped to handle the situation. Remember this article is only to make sure you get the basics of the game right and that you aren’t the one who is the slowest at the table, well maybe the second slowest. So here’s how to fit in properly at the table and how you can keep your head above water. First is obviously, learn the rules. Even if you learn to be decent enough and not exceptional it will work which can be called as hanging around, hanging around will get you places as well. Here are few basics that you all should know as a thumb rule. 1.Bet according to the size of the pot and also according to your opponent’s stack. So actually the amount of chips or money you are betting is nothing without the context. In Poker, the context is the size of the pot and how many chips you and your opponent have. If you already know that your opponent’s got a big stack and would outbid you then you wouldn’t want to take your chance with your so-so cards. 2.Know when it’s your turn, this is simple right? But a lot of newbie’s can’t get this right. Know when your turn is, keep an eye when you are playing a certain hand, and also keep an eye on your opponent’s moves of what they are betting and calling. This will make you aware of what next can you expect from your opponent. 3.Pay attention to your position. It is everything while playing poker online and you would want to be the last one making bets or making any decisions. You would want to know the other players' actions so that you know what you are dealing with literally.
4.Don’t slow play everything, if you get a good hand then do bet. It’s not necessary to slow play everything to get people to think that you might have a good hand. If other players are still in the game then there’s a possibility that they have a decent enough hand too. Sometimes it’s quite obvious that one check a good hand, but overall as a general rule make your bet and that’s the only way you would make money. 5.Don’t be unbluffable, don’t be scared to fold. Chances are sometimes you are going to get bluffed and sometimes it’s going to be the other way round. Don’t fold everything, but keep this in mind that folding is not a bad thing: it’s a decision that one should make as in when they deem fit. So if you keep these basic things in mind it will go a long way in making sure that you better your game and that you aren’t the new fish on the block for those shark teeth the next time.
