PRINCIPLE OF DEVELOPMENT • Childhood is the foundation period of life. • Development result from maturation and learning:- 1) Psychogenetic functions 2) Ontogenetic functions. • Development is predictable. • Development is aided by stimulation. • Each development stage has characteristic traits . • Dev. is a continuous process. • Dev. Occur at different traits for different parts of the body.
Dev. Proceed from general to specific response. • Every individual normally passes each major stage of development. • All individual are different. • Each faces of development as hazards associated with it.
Characteristics of Prenatal Period • Heredity endowment. • Favorable conditions in mother body can faster the dev.hereditery potential while unfavorable conditions can stunt their dev. • Determine the sex of the newly created foetus. • The period when significant people forms attitudes towards the newly created individual. • Many associated hazards. Prenatal period is the decided period for the number of offspring.
Characteristics of Infancy • Shortest period. • The time of radicals adjustment. • Slow down the dev.rate of individual for the time being. • The preview of the later development. • Infancy is a hazardous period.
Developmental task • Adjustment in breathing. • Adjustment to a new world. • Learning to suck. • Learning to adjust with elimination process. • Movement of body. • Vision/hearing/smell.
