A very popular car in this segment is the EcoSport produced by Ford. Ford India introduced the EcoSport in the year 2013, and it very easily achieved the two lakhs sales milestone in just two years within the country. Design • The overall dimensions of the car are 3999 mm in length and 1765 mm in height with a kerb weight of 1200 kgs and a ground clearance of 200 mm. The car looks and feels like a big vehicle, but it does not sacrifice the practicalities of a small hatch in any way. Ecosport carries a highly contemporary design and easily wins the heart of any car lover.
The story inside • This compact SUV can house in 5 adults and further has an impressive boot space of 340 litres. The SUV offers high seating position and the wide door facilitate easy ingress and egress. The posh interiors get an all-black interior theme with a stylish dashboard and comfortable leather clad seats. Further the speed console, climate control unit, steering wheel and centre console and gear knob look very attractive with glossy silver and black shades.
Comfort and safety features • Comfort features include keyless entry, Ford SYNC driver connect system, good quality audio system with lots of controls, reverse parking system with audio and visual feedback, advanced climate control and a centrally mounted LCD screen with SYNC controls and many more. The 1.5 petrol unit is available in a 6-speed automatic transmission which produces a maximum power of 110 bhp at 6300 rpm and 140 Nm of peak torque at 4400 rpm. The 1.0-litre, 3 cylinder EcoBoost petrol engine produces a maximum power of 123 bhp at 6000 rpm and 170 Nm of peak torque at 1400-4500 rpm. The best and in-demand 1.5-litre DV5 diesel engine produces a maximum power of 89 bhp at 3750 rpm and a torque of 204 Nm at 2000-2750 rpm.
Price • The Ecosport is a smartly packaged compact SUV with a radical design, comfy interiors and good technicalities and that too at a very affordable price of Rs 5.59-8.99 lakhs approximately. The price of the car was raised two times consecutively after its launch, still the number of buyers never decreased. At this price, Ford Ecosport is a pretty cheap SUV compared to its rivals in the same segment.
