Tata Zicavs. Renault Duster – Autoportal does a fair comparison
The Indian car market is seeing a growing demand for sport utility vehicles in the recent years. Two very popular cars in this segment are the Ecosport from Ford and Duster from the Renault. Let us see how these two cars stack up against each other. • The TheEcosport was launched here in the year 2012 at the Delhi Auto Expo. It has enjoyed exceptionally high sales since then and is the bestselling Ford car in the country at present. The Duster was also launched in the same year and it was straight away upshot with high appreciation and sales. That said both these cars have no doubt changed the fortune of their respective companies in the Indian car market.
Exterior dimensions and looks • Dimensionally, Renault Duster is much longer and wider than the EcoSport, which means there will be more cabin and luggage space inside. It also has 5 mm more ground clearance than the EcoSport. And that makes it a bit better at handling uneven roads. Looks wise also, the Duster is more rugged and SUV-ish than the EcoSport. • Interior cabin layout and features • The inside of an Ecosport is spacious and has enough features to make your journey comfortable. But it has nothing exciting or outstanding to offer. Duster on the other hand looks more stylish and upmarket and offers rather luxurious interior and innovative features. It is also slightly more spacious than the former. Ecosport looks smart in an all-black interior theme with silver inserts while Duster features a beige interior. Both cars get Bluetooth, steering controls, reversing sensors, and a multimedia system, but Renault is one step ahead here with a touchscreen.
On the road • Both are available in three engine options along with fuel options of petrol as well as diesel. The major difference is that Ecosport is handier while driving in city traffics whereas Duster is more suitable to drive on long open roads. The combination of a heavy clutch and turbo lag makes Duster quite irritating in stop-go traffic. In contrast, the Ecosport tends to run out of breath on the highways. Both the cars offer good ride but Duster gets better suspension that absorbs large potholes and speed breakers alike. Ecosport gets a stiffer suspension but this lends it more agility and as such is more fun to drive. Ecosport also gets a lighter steering which again helps in daily city driving.
Price • The final criterion ruling the Indian car buyers’ mind is the price and it is in this area that Duster fails miserably. Ford Ecosport is a pretty cheap SUV at Rs 6-10 lakhs. But at Rs 13 lakhs, the top end Duster is much expensive than Ecosport. Also Check About Tata Zica price In India Visit for www.Autoportal.com
