  1. Top 5 Fun Indian Wedding Rituals India is a country of multiple linguistic communities, each faithfully following their own traditions and cultures. Every community has its own unique way of conducting a marriage. It mostly depends on the belief of the community and their way of living. http://www.indianweddingcard.in/

  2. For instance, a North Indian wedding is way different from a South Indian wedding; similarly marriages in different caste of each linguistic group also differ prominently. However, there are some bizarre and weird wedding ideas, prevailing in many Indian communities that will leave you amazed and startled. Some of them are mentioned below:

  3. Gujarati weddings comprise of a ceremony called as ‘Ponkvu’ or ‘Ponkhana’ where the mother-in-law welcomes the groom with an Aarti and then pulls his nose. This act is a depiction of the fact that the groom has asked for their daughter’s hand with utmost gratefulness and humility.

  4. In most Maharashtrian weddings, a variety of games are played among the bride and the groom to decide who will dominate the other in the marriage. For eg: A finger ring is placed in a vessel filled with water and both the groom and the bride are asked to locate it. The one who finds it first is said to dominate the wedding. Many such games are played after the wedding. http://indianweddingcard.in/Wedding-Invitations.html

  5. In Bihar, the most popular post-wedding ritual is the one in which the mother-in-law places empty stone-made pots on the bride’s head. The bride is expected to balance a couple of these pots on her head, and touch the feet of the elderly from the family. If she succeeds in doing so, it is said that she will flawlessly take care of everyone in the family and keep the family bonded well.

  6. In most Indian traditional weddings, if the girl is a Manglik, she is made to marry a tree. This ritual is said to diminish or eliminate the influence of MangalGraha on her future husband. Marrying a Manglik girl is said to bring sorrow to the family and many a times death of the husband. Hence to avoid such distress to the family, marriage with a banana tree, a Peepal Tree, or a silver or gold idol of the Hindu God - Vishnu is considered an essential pre-wedding ritual.

  7. This tradition became a household talk across the country, especially when the famous Bollywood actress and a manglik - AishwaryaRai married a tree before her marriage with AbhishekBacchan. • There are many such rituals, which signify the future relationship of the couple and can be conducted playfully without much meaning given to it. • Even the guests look forward to such fun ceremonies soon after they received the wedding cards invitations.
