It is a forced bet that all players must put in before the hand begins. 4.Bad Beat A Bad Beat is when an expected player, who has very good hands, surprisingly loses to a less-capable player who has weaker hands. 5.Bankroll Bankroll is that lumpsum or exact amount of money that a player wagers on the table during his poker career. The higher the bankroll is, the “richer” that poker player is. 6.Bankroll management As explained above, a player usually affords to play poker in major tournaments by wagering money from his winnings and “savings.” It is thus important to play accordinglyand within one’s financial limits. This surplus amount is called Bounty. 10.Bubble The bubble is a term used in poker tournaments to refer a player who fails to end his game on the paying positions. As for example, let’s say there are 50 poker players playing and only 15 of them are supposed to get paid, then players from position number 16 to 50 are bubbles. 11.Bust To bust means to either have an incomplete hand or to lose all of one's chips. Since chips are what the game progresses on, running out of them means a dead end to a player’s game. 12.Buy-in
A Buy-In is the minimum number of chips that are required by a player to be a part of a poker game or a tournament. 13. Call A Call in poker terms implies the situation in an ongoing game in which a player matches the amount of the most recent bet. 14. Community Cards Community Cards are those mutually shared cards that are dealt face up on a poker table. These cards are individually used by all players to make the best possible card combination (using the cards they were dealt in person) in every hand. 15 Fold In poker, not every card you would get dealt would help you win a hand. In such cases, it is advisable to give up on it instead of going ahead with it and wagering anything on it. Players are required to make the best five-card combination using two cards of their own and three (out of five) on the table. 19. Pot Limit Omaha The second most popular version of poker games. In it, a player gets dealt 4 cards and the end of the game is make the best card combination with two of his Hole Cards and three from the table. 20. Pocket or Hole Cards They are the cards that are dealt face down to a player. They are different from the Community Cards. 21. Raise A Raise is when a player increases the last placed wager (that was put by some other player). 22. Royal Flush It is a straight flush of ace, king, queen, jack and ten- all of the same suit. It is the highest possible hand and has 1 chance of an appearance in 649,740 hands.
23. River It is the last community card given in all poker games. It most often decides the outcome of a game. 24. Satellite It is a tournament, winning which a player gets a free ticket to play in a higher placed and more famous tournament. The latter also has a much higher buy-in than that of the Satellite. 25. Straight A winning card combination in most circumstances, it features a set of five cards in numerical order. These cards may be of any suit. 26. Sit and Go A Sit and Go is a tournament in which ten or so players can get started with a game as and when they like, by wagering their money. 27. Rake Rake is the fixed percentage of money that a poker company charges for each hand of poker. 28. Tell Closely related to someone’s body language, a tell is an evident change in a player's playing pattern or behaviour. It shows that he is either happy with or is nervous about his card combination. 29. Tilt If the player is emotionally upset with his recent losses in a game, he is said to be in a tilt. The tilt results in further degradation in a player’s game. 30. Turn The turn is the fourth of the community cards dealt face up on a poker table. It is the second last in total five cards that a player can use to make his complete hand.
