Austrian cuisine is most often associated with Viennese cuisine, but there are significant regional variations.

Rye bread (Vollkornbrot, Bauernbrot) is the traditional staple food among peasants. There is also the common white bread roll (Semmel) which does not have such a heavy taste.

25. Felix Gottwald, born January 13, 1976 Austria Austrian Nordic combined athlete who competed from 1994 to 2007. He made his Olympic debut as an 18 year old in : 15 km individual event at the 1994 Winter Olympics 4 x 5 km team and 15 km individual events at the 1998 Winter Olympics Achievements: Won bronze medals in the 7.5 km sprint, 15 km individual and 4 x 5 km team Nordic combined events at the 2002 Winter Olympics Won golds in the 7.5 km sprint and 4 x 5 km team competitions Took silver in the 15 km individual.

26. Christoph Sieber • An Austrian sailor who competed in the 2000 Summer Olympics. • Won a gold medal in the Mistral class sailing • He began early in the sporting world, started windsurfing when he was very young, and made a professional career out of it. • Achievements: Took the Gold medal in the World Championships in Sydney in 2000

Edith Lowe • One of the oldest Olympians to lived and was 100 on June 2004 • Defender in the Austrian handball team who beat Germany 5-4 after being 4-1 down at half-time in the 1930 all-women games. • She was very fit since young, playing in the biggest sports club in Vienna and though it was tiring, she enjoyed it a lot.
