  1. Features to Consider While Buying Baby Cot Online in Sri Lanka Baby cribs are not as straightforward as they seem. They can have certain features that may not be available in some models. Hence, it pays to explore the features of a certain product before buying a baby cot, especially when you are shopping online. Here are some features you should consider while buying a baby cot online in Sri Lanka: • Safety- The most important feature you should consider in a baby cot is safety. To make sure of this, you need to carefully look at the product’s and the manufacturer’s certifications. Is the cot you are interested in compliant to international safety standards? Certain features can make a baby cot safer, too. One of the factors to look at is the depth, which refers to the distance from the top of the cot to the top of the mattress. Experts agree that depth should be at least 30cm when the base of the mattress is upright, 15cm when the drop side is lowered, and 50cm when the base is in the lowest position. Moreover, make sure that there are no places where your baby’s hands, fingers, legs, or head can get trapped. There should be no protruding parts or sharp edges that can injure your little one. • A snug fit- Make sure the mattress can fit snugly on all sides. The gap between the edge of the baby mattress and the cot sides should not go beyond 4cm. Keep in mind that gaps are considered a suffocation risk when the baby rolls face-first in them. • Size- Measure the space where the baby cot will be placed. That way, you can easily judge if the baby cot will take up too much space in your home. Check the size of the cot, too. Consider buying a product that is collapsible so it can easily be brought into your home and transferred easily from one room to another. • Ease of use- Look for a baby cot that is easy to assemble. It should still be sturdy, though, and can hold its form while in use. • Special features- Some baby cots online may come with special and unique features such as teething strips to prevent damage when the baby chews on the edges, castors or wheels, and the ability to be converted into a child’s bed.
