  2. What is Heart Attack? Heart attack is a medical condition which is caused mainly due to damage to the muscles of the heart. This is also known as ‘myocardial infarction’ (MI) and is the result when the heart muscles are deprived of their blood supply for a long period of time.

  3. Signs and Symptoms of a Heart Attack?

  4. Chest discomfort This is the most common sign of a heart attack. In case of a blocked artery in the chest, or while having a heart attack, the person feels intense stabbing pain in the chest followed with a pressurizing sensation.

  5. Nausea/Heartburn The person will commonly experience stomach pain, heartburn, indigestion or nausea during a heart attack..

  6. Radiating pain The feeling of pain in the left arm which radiates down the body on that side.

  7. Dizziness Sudden onset of a spell of dizziness or fainting along with shortness of breath and chest discomfort are also signs of a heart attack.

  8. Facial pain The patient may also experience pressure in the center of the chest that can be felt spreading upwards to the throat and the jaw.

  9. Fatigue Sudden tiredness after performing a common physical activity, such as climbing stairs, carrying groceries, etc may also indicate towards the beginning of a heart attack.

  10. Snoring Unusually loud and persistent snoring, which tends to sound like choking/gasping, may also indicate towards the development of a heart attack in a person.
