Lynam What Is a Brachioplasty A brachioplasty, commonly called an arm lift, is a surgery that reshapes the back part of your upper arm. It eliminates excess skin or fat within the upper arm area. It makes your upper arm look smoother. Why it's done Brachioplasty is a type of body-contouring surgery. This type of surgery is often done after weight-loss surgery. This is a troublesome problem for many men and women due to aging, fluctuations in weight, or just genetic predisposition. The Arm Lift (Brachioplasty) Procedure Step 1 - Anesthesia Medications are administered for your comfort during arm lift surgery. The choices include intravenous sedation and general anesthesia. Step 2 - The incision During arm lift surgery, the incision is placed on the inside of the upper arm and may extend from the underarm to the elbow.Incision length will depend on the amount of excess skin and fat that needs to be removed. Step 3 - Closing the incisions Your incisions will be closed either with absorbable sutures or stitches that will be removed within one to two weeks following your arm lift. Step 4 - See the results By removing loose skin, an arm lift can give your upper arms a more toned appearance. Arm lift results are typically long lasting.
