Dental Marketing - Is Twitter Right For Your Practice? I recently started marketing on Twitter, and I believe that if it is done correctly, this can be a great marketing tactic for most dental practices. But if done incorrectly, Twitter is likely to be a huge time-waster. I read somewhere that Twitter is similar to attending Chamber of Commerce meetings. If you walk into the meeting, throw a bunch of business cards on a table, and immediately walk out, you are not very likely to get any new patients for your Cheaper dental material.
But if you walk into a Chamber of Commerce event and start interacting with other members, having conversations and learning about the other attendees, and think of the event as the beginning of a relationship, you might not get any new patients at that very first event, but you will eventually start building a following. And you'll learn more about these people and their businesses. You'll learn how you can help them, what type of clients or customers you can send their way. And then you'll start sending them referrals. And some of these referrals might turn into customers for them. You'll be helping them grow their prospect base and increase their businesses.
And then the magic will happen. These people will eventually start talking about you to others. And they will start spreading the word about you and your Cheaper dental material. And they will start sending you referrals. Pretty soon they'll be helping you build your business and your patient base. And they'll want to do it, because you helped them. But all of this takes time. It's not likely to happen at the first Chamber of Commerce event. Or after the first tweet. It takes awhile to learn about your following and to figure out what you can do to help them. It takes awhile to know what type of prospects to send their way. It takes awhile to help them build their business.
And after that, it takes awhile for the tables to turn; for them to want to help you. It takes awhile for them to realize, "Hey, this Dr. Smith is a really nice guy. He's sent me 3 referrals in the past month, and one of those turned into decent business for me." And after that, it takes awhile for them to start talking about you to others. It takes awhile for them to start thinking of you when someone mentions a tooth problem, or the need to find a new dentist. Dental marketing with Twitter is definitely a viable option. But it's not a fast option. If you're looking for a quick-fix to a dental marketing problem, Twitter is not the answer. But if you're looking for a slow and steady tactic that can help you build relationships, help other people, and eventually grow your dental business, then you should definitely consider marketing your dental practice on Twitter.
