History • NSA Canada was formed in the spring of 1997, by a group of players wanting more out of their Slo-pitch program. • Our mission right from that very first meeting was to be an organization that paid attention to its’ members, whether they are players, umpires, tournament organizers or league directors. • This statement alone brings us to many of the policies in place today! • NSA Canada originally started as a Coed program. In 2002, we expanded to involve the Men’s & Women’s program. This also includes our Masters program. The first ever Men’s & Women’s Canada World Series started in 2002.

Facts • Every year, NSA Canada’s board members meet with the directors, slo-pitch players, leagues, tournament convenors and umpires from all over Canada to get suggestions and ideas to further improve our program. • NSA Canada takes these ideas very seriously, because after all, it is the people involved with the sport that matter. • NSA Canada also takes pride in its directors and umpires, so anything they bring to the table to further our program, is seriously considered. • NSA Canada is an organization built for players by players. We believe that anyone who participates in this sport, should be able to play for whomever and whenever they desire. • We are very excited about our continued growth across Canada, making NSA the fastest growing program in Canada.

  4. Growth of Teams • Our number of teams has grown from 220 teams in 1997 to over 14,000 teams in 2010…

  5. Growth of Tournaments • As the number of teams and players continue to grow, so do the number of tournaments. • In 1997 there were just 5 tournaments. In 2009 there were over 600 tournaments across Canada. Consistent Annual Increases

Growth of Across Canada • In 1997, existed only in Alberta • By 2001, expanded into British Columbia • By 2003, expanded into Manitoba and Saskatchewan • In 2005, expanded into Ontario and the Maritime provinces • In 2006, began to expand into Quebec • We continue to expand nationally at over 10% per year. NSA Canada has become a truly expanding national organization….

League Affiliation & Benefits LEAGUE PRIZING LEAGUE PRIZING • NSA Canada simply offers the best choices in League Awards. • We believe each league should be able to customize their prize package to suit individual league needs. • Your league is credited with a prize package based on$60.00 per team. • For example: If your league has 36 teams, you would be entitled to 36 teams x $60 per team = $2,160.00 in league awards • NSA Canada believes it is up to each individual league to select the awards prizing that best suits their particular league needs. • We will provide your league with a prizing price list.

League Affiliation & Benefits NSA RULEBOOK NSA RULE BOOK • Our rule book, features rules for the following: • 7&3, 6&4, and 5&5 Co-ed, and Men’s and Women’s • This rule book is intended to provide a guideline for your use. Leagues may opt for their own rules as necessary. NSA UMPIRES • The NSA Umpires Group is one of the fastest growing Umpire organizations in Canada. • With ongoing training, our Umpires strive to provide a professional and objective attitude toward each and every game. Sanctioned league teams will receive an NSA Canada Rule Book!

  16. League Affiliation & Benefits INSURANCE INSURANCE • We at NSA Canada, pride ourselves in our insurance program. NSA Canada not only insures the league and all its directors, it also insures the individual teams. • Your team’s insurance covers you no matter where you play or practice in Canada. • For example: When you purchases automotive insurance, your vehicle is insured no matter which road you may travel on. Who is Insured? The association, leagues, clubs and affiliated teams. Who is Covered? Directors, officers, coaches, managers, officials, umpires, players, volunteers, and employees. Activities Covered? Practices, games, tournaments, related training activities, and related approved travel.
