  2. What is a clause? A clause is a group of words that contain a verb and its subject. Dogs run. Click on the bold words for an explanation! Subject Verb

  3. The subject is the person or thing carrying out the action of the verb. The verb is the action the subject is doing. Dogs run.

  4. But wait!! Clauses can have an object too.

  5. Sally isswimmingin thepool. Sally is the subject. The verb is swimming. The object is the pool. Do you understand? I hope so!

  6. These are 2 more examples before you take the test. Mary is riding her bike. subject: Mary verb: riding object: bike Sandy is chewing on bubble gum. Subject: Sandyverb: chewingobject: gum
