There are a number of legal variations between boat charter and a number of the other charter arrangements including luxury yacht and crewed charters. The latter will generally be referred to as voyage or time charters.
Basically speaking, a boat charter refers to the set up that is made to hire a boat. These charters may include including crew members and conditions within the agreement. Even so, it is also possible to get a boat charter that does not involve terms or crew within the agreement.
On the other hand, in boat charters such as the death or bare boat charter, the owner will give you ownership of his boat. You will then have to hire your own crew and master. This is the purpose why you will be referred to as a personality owner in such a case.
