Searching for Books Using SOULS aint Gregory’s nline niversity ibrary ystem

James J. Kelly Library Webpage You can reach the library’s catalog (SOULS) by either clicking on Catalogs or by using the quick search box http://sgulibrary.stgregorys.edu/
Determinekeywords To begin your search, first determine two to three key words to describe your topic. Then click search. The default search will find all records that contain your terms.
Partial search results Notice that 15 items were found that contain both words. To sort the results, choose a criteria from the drop-down box. For example, you can sort the results with the newest items first by choosing “Publication Date Descending.”

If you know the title … Choose “Title begins with” from the drop-down box after “within.” If you already know the title of an item, type the tile in the search box. Then click search. Be sure to omit words like “the” “a” & “an” if they come at the beginning of a title.
Catalog record of the requested title The catalog record provides you with the information you will need for a bibliography. Holdings information indicates where to look for the item and whether it is currently on the shelf

Subjects The library owns 7 items on the subject “autism in children.” Click on that link to see those items.

Catalog record of the requested title Notice that author entries are also hyper-linked. Click on the author’s name to view additional titles by that author
Author search The library owns 6 titles by this author. Click the link to view the titles.
Partial listing of SGU author holdings This the partial listing of the 6 items by that author. The catalog indicates that this item is available. Write down the Call Number to locate the shelf position of the book.
Begin a new search or edit a search Notice that the quick search bar is available to begin a new ‘keyword search.’ Or you can edit or save the current search.
Begin again or Log in to ‘My Account’ Choices on the upper tabs allow you to begin again, see a history of this session’s searches or log in to create a list or view your account. To renew items, log in and click on ‘My Account’.
