  12. Conclusions Swiss WYP2005 is on good tracks but still… problems to find financial support and some delays in the preparation!

  13. WYP2005 - Goals • Raise public awareness for Physics and physical sciences • Stop decrease of physics students numbers in High Schools and Universities • Need to outline • Great contributions of Physics in Science and Technology and its impact • on society • Interdisciplinary role of Physics and incubator for new emerging fields • Great challenges of Physics for the 21st century: energy, environment, public health • Physics in education • Physics in developing countries and physics for development • Women in Physics • The cultural heritage of Physics, from the Egyptian and ancient Greek legacy to modern physics

  14. Suggested WYP2005 Actions • Local and itinerant exhibits on physics, Einstein and other famous physicists • Local events on physics in every day life - integration to existing cultural events • Actions in schools, universities, national and private research laboratories • Interdisciplinary conferences, workshops or symposia • Interaction with local industry, technology parks,... • Advertising material: articles in newspapers and specialised magazines, posters • in public areas, Radio and TV special programmes, WYP stamp, etc. • Newsletter, Europhysics News, National Physical Societies bulletins, • Web sites with updated information and forums
