Downloaded from: justpaste.it/5hlcd The History of Shower Screen Seals You didn’t think there would be much of a story to tell about the history of Shower Screen Seals did you? On the face of it there isn’t, but if you start to think about it, you can take quite an interesting journey into history tracing back the origins and predecessors of the humble shower seal. We didn’t need shower screen seals until the invention of the shower screen when it became apparent that to fit one of these in your shower cubicle or on the side of your bath, there was the need for a flexible piece of rubber or plastic to stop the water spilling out into the bathroom. Someone invented those shower screens. But those weren’t needed until someone actually invented the shower. Probably thousands of years ago, a human was washing their hair under a waterfall and thought “wouldn’t it be great if I could do this near to my dwelling” and they probably rigged up a bucket of water to a tree, and put some holes in the bottom of the bucket to recreate the experience "at home". That developed into a much more modern interpretation at some point where a plumber decided to create a hose arrangement from their taps in their bath and rigged up a shower head of some sort. This wouldn’t have been possible until plumbing had been invented to have running water into the home, and someone had to invent the bath first as no doubt the first showers ran into a bath, although of course we now all have standalone showers without the need of a bath due to the invention of shower trays to catch the water. To have running water into your home, someone invented metal pipes, first out of lead, and then out of copper. If you had to make a metal pipe from nothing, you would find it very difficult. Someone had to invent the process of making those pipes and a method to join them together and bend them round the structure of a building. To run water into your home, someone originally had the idea to take water from a source, and transfer it from there to one or more dwellings. Of course these days, there are millions of miles of pipes to do this for us and massive reservoirs, but once upon a time it probably came from a natural pond or river. Someone invented dams to make bigger ponds, then lakes to make sure there was enough supply of water for everyone. That is just for the cold water. Someone had to invent a way of heating the water so you woulnd’t have to have a cold shower in the middle of winter. We now have clever little boxes in our houses that heat up water on demand from gas or electricity (or solar power). Once upon a time the water would only be hot when heated over a fire. Going back to the shower seals. Someone had to invent flexible plastic to allow the seals to work effectively. In order to shape them, someone else invented plastic moulding to allow the seals to be shaped according to the size of the glass and the depth of the gap that needed to be sealed. Plastic was invented as a by-product of oil and that could only happen once oil was being successfully extracted from the ground and someone worked out that by processing the by-products of oil in a certain
way, plastics could be created and shaped into all manner of useful items. Plastic is only a massive problem in the world these days because it is so versatile and useful that nearly everything we use in the world day contains some of it. Oil was formed by trees being rotted down and over millions of years broken down into a gloop that someone once discovered could be used for fuel and products. Then someone else had to invent methods of extracting it from the ground and processing it. You can take any part of the history above and expand on it further and you can see that there have been thousands of things that need to be invented and refined before we even had the idea of needing shower seals. Luckily all of that was in place and we put together a website, running on the internet, to help you find your shower screen seal as easily as possible. Of course we could go into the history of the computer and the internet and electricity and telephones as well to fully cover all of the inventions that are necessary for you to be able to easily find and order your seal for delivery. And we would need to explore the history of motor vehicles and trains and boats and planes to cover off the delivery side of things. Thankfully all of that is already invented, so we just do the little part at the end of this massive history to bring the best service possible in finding a shower screen seal that fits your shower, and deliver it to you as quickly as possible. We hope you enjoyed this little adventure and you can marvel at the seal that arrives in the post, gets fitted to your shower screen and stops the water spilling onto your lovely bathroom floor :) Original Source:- Shower Screen Seals
