  1.     Significance of Wearing Bangles after  Marriage in an Indian Society   Bangles are a very important accessory used by women in Indian society.           In fact, in many Hindu religions, these bangles are a symbol of “suhag”             for the married Indian women. The bangles are said to be a part of the             “Solah shringar” for all Indian brides. It is mandatory for many Indian           brides to wear either glass or gold bangles in and after marriage. These               bangles signify prosperity and good fortune as well as a good luck charm           to ensure the long life of the partner.                                                                                               India has a large population and a good number of states, where people               from different religions practice different customs and traditions.               

  2.   Based on the diversity each religion has a different set of belief           associated with the bangles. Given below is a list of the different         significances for wearing a bangle, based on different parts of the         country:                                                ● Significance in the Southern part of India​​: In the southern states,         the bride wears gold bangles because it is considered auspicious for           her.                            ● The significance of bangles in the central part of India​​: The         Maharashtrian bride wears green colored bangles because green       signifies prosperity and fertility for them.                             

  3.     ● The significance of bangles in Bengal​​: In Bengal, the brides wear  white shell bangle and a red coral bangle called “sankha” and”  pola”. The Bengali brides also wear an iron bangle with gold plating  which is gifted to her by her mother in law when she enters her new  household. These signify prosperity, health as well as a symbol for  the long life of the husband.  ● The significance of bangles in Punjab, Gujarat, and Rajasthan​​: In           Rajasthan, Gujarat and Punjab the bride wears bangles which are         called “chooda”.
