briefs were made with a functional fly because of the length coverage. It would provide easy access to the manhood for various purposes. However, trunks were never made that way. The latter style did not have a functional fly because they already were short. The newer brands have discontinued incorporating it in their fashion underwear assortment. 2. Coverage/Length: As it was mentioned in the above point, boxer briefs are longer in terms of length and the trunks are the shorter version of the same. The former covers till the thigh whereas; on the other hand, thighs than the trunks. Leg Bands: Lastly, the boxer briefs have elastic waistbands and elastic leg-bands that keep a tight grip on the both waist and thighs whereas; the trunks have an elastic waistband but no elastic leg-bands. But the varied trunks may or may not keep a grip on thighs. However, nowadays even boxer briefs are available without leg bands.
