FOREWORD 0.1 This Indian Revision) was adopted by the Erreau of Indian Standards on 30 October 1987, after the draft finalized by the Structural Committee had been approved by Engineering Division Council. 0.2 A building has to perform many functions satisfactorily. The unit weight of materials incorporated in this standard are information available through published Indian standards and various other publications. 0.4.2 The values given in this standard have been rounded off in accordance with IS : 2-1960:. It included the provisions for the basic design loads (dead loads, live loads, wind loads and seismic loads) to be assumed in the design of buildings. In its first revision in 1964,the wind pressure provisions were modified on the basis of studies of wind phenomenon and its effect on structures, under- taken by the special committee in consultation with the Indian Meteorological Department.
