3. Vision To provide an appealing, useful Internet portal to licensed databases accessed within an information literacy curriculum structure. Whether students are from an affluent suburban school or an isolated rural school, they deserve access to high quality, authoritative resources via licensed databases.
4. Background Statewide access to EBSCOhost and the NewsBank Oregonian for ALL Oregon K-12 public and private schools is being provided with funds granted to the Oregon State Library under the Library Services and Technology Act, and funds from the Oregon Department of Education.
5. Background In 2004 the OEMA began a partnership with the University of Washington’s Information School to host the OSLIS website, which includes a 3-year plan for continuing to enhance and improve OSLIS.
New interface in the fall of 2005 - cooperative effort of OEMA (Oregon Educational Media Assn.) and the Information School at the University of Washington.
6. Advantages Equal access for K-12 students of public or private schools
Many Oregon schools have already received training
Students see the same “interface” from school, home, or a public library
NOTE: Home-schooled won’t have access except through a public library

Students connected from home will use their school username and password. L-Net should have a list of school names / passwords as well.

Avoid the “All EBSCO Databases” links – poor interface and most students are not directed to use it
You can safely ignore erroneous text such as “Athens users login” or “Welcome Athens users” Notes
16. Citation Maker One possible issue: entered data “disappears” – can be retrieved via the “Show My Citations” link near the top of the page
