  2. Discord is a wonderful service for people looking for voice over IP applications, more so if you are a gamer. This service is not limited to just voice communication and allows users to create multiple servers to be used for various groups. Have you ever wondered how to change text color in Discord? Well, read on. • Discord offers an online chat service for people who do not have a mic or a headset and who prefer to chat like a “techie”.

The text gets dull • Now once you start using the available text messaging service that is provided, it will not take you long to realize that there is not a whole lot of vibrancy in using just plain text. Plain text can quickly get very dull. To make things worse, there really is no official way of changing the color of your message. We are going to show you a way to add some color to your otherwise mundane, unappealing messages.

  4. The Markdown • While you are chatting away on Discord all the time, there is a lightweight, sleek engine that works in the background and is responsible for formatting all your text. This engine is known as Markdown.

  5. The Hack • Let us explain another nice feature added by Discord developers. It is a library known as Highlight.js.To be honest, Discord does not have true full syntax highlighting. You cannot just say, “I want this to be green and I want that to be ”. • What does exist as far as our text coloring needs go, is a hacked version of text highlighting using some coloring methods from highlight.js. • Even though we may not be able to directly highlight text, we can at least create a code block in discord, point it towards a particular syntax highlighting profile that is part of highlight.js and use that to meet our objective by wrapping the text inappropriate symbols. • So in summary – text formatting is done by Markdown and code block highlighting is done by Highlight.js.

  6. Changing Text Color • Now we get to the fun part where we will change our text messages in color. In order to create a single line code block in discord, you will need to use the ‘tick’ or ‘backtick’ character: ` If you have never used this key before, it is towards the top left corner of your keyboard, right under the ESC key. • We will be creating multi-line code blocks (by pressing ENTER and SPACE keys together) using three backticks and specifying the syntax highlighting language.
