  3. The Republic of Dagestan is one of the most attractive, picturesque and original regions of Russia.

  4. Dagestan is called a land of mountains. From the dawn of times this area lured countless travelers, artists, poets and writers.

  5. Peoples of Dagestan preserve and develop their unique cultures consisting of ancient traditions, folk arts and crafts.

  6. The greatest treasure of Dagestan are the people living there, all hospitable and hearty as seen only in the Caucasian Mountains.

  7. Makhachkalais the Capital of Dagestan . It is known for its beautiful mosque in the center of the city..

  8. Juma Mosque is one of the most beautiful mosques not only in Russia, but in the whole Europe and built in the image of the "Blue Mosque” , in Turkey.

  9. Derbent is one of the ancient towns in the Russian Federation. It is about 5,000 years old.

  10. The fortress Naryn-kala is precious diamond and a treasury of a Derbent heritage. In fortress territory there are magnificent monuments of history.

  11. Derbentis considered the cradle of three religions. In the citadel is the first Christian church in Russia (IV century). In the city preserved the oldest mosque in the former Soviet Union (VIII cent.). The city has the oldest synagogue in the territory of Russia (1614).

  12. There is no other village in the Caucasus as Kubachi. This aul is unique for its location and architecture. Kubachi

  14. Samur is a pearl of the South Dagestan, a favorite tourists’ rest place. There is a luxuriant subtropical liana forest in the delta of the Samur river , which is unique in Russia. Samur

  15. Gunib is one of the most beautiful places in the republic. Gunib

  16. The Gunib plateau, which is about 50 sq. km, resembles a highly elevated island, which is cut off the outer world by the vertical precipices. It’s covered with pine forests. One can meet luxuriant brushwood of a relict Radde birch, which is met in such quantity only in Gunib and some other places of the Caucasus. The hill-sides are covered with a bright carpet of Sub-Alpine meadows.

  17. In spring and summer people suffering from respiratory diseases have a rest in a health-resort “Radde” and a tourist camp “Eagle’s nest”. People say that a man who hasn’t visited Gunib has never been to Dagestan. An ancient sun-dial which mountaineers used 250 years ago is still kept in the village of Kegher near Gunib.

  18. The most amazing nature miracle is the sandy Sary-KumBarkhan. It is the largest in Europe, it is situated 20 km to the north of Makhachkala. It’s about 252 meters over the sea level. It seems as if someone’s lovely hands have carried this wonderful nook of desert with its flora and fauna to Dagestan.  The sand hill Sary-Kum

  19. The botanists have numbered more than 300 plant species here, including the rare ones. Despite the fact, that the sands of Sary-Kum are available raw materials, Dagestani people managed to prevent this Caucasian sandy miracle from destruction.  .

  20. Tobot is a fall on the river with the same name, inflow AvarianKoysy. It is located on the Hunzahsky plateau north- east settlements Hunzah. Water steeply falls on a bottom of a canyon a uniform stream. And only below the falls trunk is a little sprayed, forming a water cloud. Tobot

  21. Billions the smallest splashes rise from a canyon bottom upwards and sparkle on the sun all colours of a rainbow. The falls are included in the list of unique natural monuments of mountain Dagestan.

  22. The mountain top as though pulls together to itself six crests. From height of eagle flight the mountain file reminds a star. The most valuable, that is at Addal - its glaciers. Since 1892 the mountain is known to climbers of Europe, a number of climbing routes here is laid. Addal

  23. Remarkable and majestic creation of the nature in Dagestan is the Sulaksky canyon. This canyon amazes with the grandness and reminds the well-known canyon of the river Colorado in the North America. Sulaksky canyon

  24. The most interesting nature sanctuary - the Sulaksky canyon, and the huge water basin which has arisen here became places of pilgrimage of tourists and regional specialists.
