Guruvayur Temple Timings

The pilgrims get long hours to worship as the temple timings of Guruvayur is quite long and flexible. The temple opens at 3am in the morning and closes at 10 pm late night. At the morning time, it opened at 3 am and pilgrims get only 10 minutes for Nirmalaya Darshanam. Then the temple get closed and others rituals of awaking idols, their abhishek and decoration of flowers being done.<br><br>Then again temple opens for general people for 15 minutes. Again at 4.30 am some regular rituals being done. The temple is opened for long time visit is from 9 am to 11.30 am. Other than this, temple is opened but idol viewing is possible time to time for the whole day.   1. Guruvayur Temple Timings In the small town of Kerala, there situated a famous Hindu temple, Guruvayur Shri Krishna Temple. As the name suggest, it is dedicated to Lord Krishna, one of the main deities of Hindus. The temple is equipped with an icon of four-armed Krishna carrying his four famous equipments Sudarshan chakra, conch, mace and a lotus. It is treated as the majestic form of Lord Krishna. This is the reason Guruvayur is also called as the “Dwarka” of South India. The Guruvayur temple timings are very flexible and all the devotees can enter the temple without any restrictions. Guruvayur Temple ​​History According to history, deity worshipped at this place 5000 years back. So its history is very long. But to cut short, in early 16​thcentury many references presents the scene of an old town ​Kuruvayur​, which means a village on sea. As per the traditions laid down by Adi Shankaracharya, the men are to wear traditional mundu without covering chest area while visiting temple during visiting hours. Women have to wear saree and girls to wear long skirt up to ankle length. A little relaxation is now given to women by allowing salwar kameez as a dress and shorts for boys.   3. Guruvayur Temple ​​Old Stories The legends say that once Lord Shiva visited with his family to worship Lord Vishnu on the pond at the northern side of temple. This pond was therefore, named after Lord Shiva, Rudra Theertham. It is believed that this pond was later extended about 3 kilometers away from the temple up to ​Mammiyur​.this pond was known for its magical blooming lotus flowers. Easily Reachable As the temple timings are flexible, so as the way of reaching to temple is easy. All the modes of transport is available for this temple. By air, train or road, you have access from all the directions. The visitors also have other beautiful visiting places and temples nearby the main temple.
