It belongs to the group of medicines called selective norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs). Atomoxetine works in the brain to increase attention and decrease restlessness in people who are hyperactive, have problems with concentration, or are easily distracted. Attentrol Capsules (Generic Atomoxetine Hydrochloride Capsules) Recommended Adult Dosage The dosage of Attentrol Capsules Attentrol Capsules (Atomoxetine Hydrochloride Capsules) is given below: Dosing of children and adolescents over 70 kg body weight and adults — Therapy with Atomoxetine Capsules (Attentrol Capsules) should be started at a total daily dose of 40 mg and increased after a minimum of 3 days to a target total daily dose of approximately 80 mg administered either as a single daily dose in the morning or as evenly divided doses in the morning and late afternoon/early evening. Dosing of children and adolescents up to 70 kg body weight — Therapy with Atomoxetine Capsules (Attentrol Capsules) should be started at a total daily dose of approximately 0.5 mg/kg and increased after a minimum of 3 days to a target total daily dose of approximately 1.2 mg/kg administered either as a single daily dose in the morning or as evenly divided doses in the morning and late afternoon/early evening. © The Swiss Pharmacy

8. Attentrol Capsules (Generic Atomoxetine Hydrochloride Capsules) Contraindications ➔Attentrol Capsules are contraindicated in patients with a known hypersensitivity to Atomoxetine Hydrochloride or any component of the tablet. ➔Attentrol Capsules should not be taken with an MAOI, or within 2 weeks after discontinuing an MAOI. Treatment with an MAOI should not be initiated within 2 weeks after discontinuing Attentrol. ➔Atomoxetine Capsules use was associated with an increased risk of mydriasis and therefore its use is not recommended in patients with narrow angle glaucoma. ➔This medicine is also contraindicated in cases of Severe Cardiovascular Disorders that might deteriorate with clinically important increases in HR and BP. Attentrol Capsules (Generic Atomoxetine Hydrochloride Capsules) Warnings Suicidal Ideation - Suicide-related behaviour (suicide attempts and suicidal ideation) has been observed in patients treated with Atomoxetine capsules. During clinical trials, suicide-related behaviours were uncommon, but more commonly observed among children and adolescents treated with Atomoxetine compared to those treated with placebo, where there were no events. Severe Liver Injury - Attentrol Capsules must be discontinued and not restarted in patients with jaundice or laboratory evidence of liver injury. Serious Cardiovascular Events - Sudden death, stroke and myocardial infarction have been reported in association with Atomoxetine therapy. Generic Strattera generally should not be used in children or adolescents with known serious structural cardiac abnormalities, cardiomyopathy, serious heart rhythm bnormalities, or other serious cardiac problems. 11. Attentrol Capsules (Generic Atomoxetine Hydrochloride Capsules) Warnings Emergent Cardiovascular Symptoms - Patients under treatment with this medicine should undergo prompt cardiac evaluation. Effects on Blood Pressure and Heart Rate - Attentrol capsules can increase blood pressure as well as heart rate. There exists a possibility that orthostasis, syncope and Raynaud's phenomenon may occur. Use this medicine with caution in patients with hypertension, tachycardia, or cardiovascular or cerebrovascular disease. Emergent Psychotic or Manic Symptoms - Discontinuing treatment with Attentrol Capsules should be considered if such new Psychotic or Manic symptoms are observed. Bipolar Disorder - Patients must be screened to avoid possible induction of a mixed/manic episode. Aggressive behavior - Aggressive behavior or hostility in patients undergoing treatment with this medicine has to be monitored. Effects on Urine Outflow - Urinary hesitancy and retention may occur. Priapism - Prompt medical attention is required in the event of suspected priapism. Growth - Height and weight should be carefully monitored in pediatric patients. Use of Potent CYP2D6 Inhibitors along with Attentrol or use in patients known to be CYP2D6 poor metabolizers may require dose adjustment of Attentrol. Attentrol Capsules (Generic Atomoxetine Hydrochloride Capsules) Possible Side Effects The side effects of Atomoxetine Hydrochloride Capsules (Attentrol capsules) include dry mouth, tiredness, irritability, nausea, decreased appetite, constipation, dizziness, sweating, dysuria, sexual problems, decreased libido, urinary retention or hesitancy, increased obsessive behavior, weight changes, palpitations, increases in heart rate and blood pressure. Occasionally after prolonged use some patients have experienced slow onset mild depression, tiredness and forgetfulness while using Attentrol Capsules. There were also reports of this medicine causing indications of short-term memory loss from some patients. Confirmed cases of severe liver damage have also been reported and a black box warning was issued by the FDA in 2004. Other Attentrol side effects can include psychosis, mood swings, mood disorders, depression, abnormal thought patterns, suicidal thoughts or tendencies, and self injury. Other symptoms may include agitation, hyperactivity, abnormal behavior and gastrointestinal symptoms. Mydriasis causing blurred vision, tachycardia and dry mouth occasionally occurs as a result of overdose of Generic Strattera. Treatment of Atomoxetine Hydrochloride capsules (Attentrol capsules) overdose may include gastric emptying and repeated doses of activated charcoal.
