Ezedoc (Generic Ezetimibe Tablets) is an anti-hyperlipidemic medication which is used to lower cholesterol and triglyceride (fat-like substances) levels in the blood. Ezedoc acts by decreasing cholesterol absorption in the small intestine. Using this medicine may help prevent medical problems caused by such substances clogging the blood vessels. This medicine reduces the risk of cardiovascular events in patients with coronary heart disease (CHD) and a history of acute coronary syndrome (ACS) when added to ongoing statin therapy or initiated concomitantly with a statin. Ezedoc Tablets (Generic Ezetimibe Tablets) Uses of Ezedoc 10 mg Tablets: Ezedoc Tablets (Generic Ezetimibe 10 mg Tablets) is an inhibitor of intestinal cholesterol (and related phytosterol) absorption indicated as an adjunct to diet to: Reduce elevated total-C, LDL-C, Apo B, and non-HDL-C in patients with primary hyperlipidemia, alone or in combination with an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor (statin). Reduce elevated total-C, LDL-C, Apo B, and non-HDL-C in patients with mixed hyperlipidemia in combination with Fenofibrate. Reduce elevated total-C and LDL-C in patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (HoFH), in combination with Atorvastatin or Simvastatin. Reduce elevated sitosterol and campesterol in patients with homozygous sitosterolemia (phytosterolemia). Ezedoc Tablets (Generic Ezetimibe Tablets) Warnings Ezedoc Tablets (Generic Ezetimibe Tablets) are not recommended in patients with moderate or severe hepatic impairment. Persistent elevations in hepatic transaminase can take place when Generic Ezetimibe tablets is added to a statin. Therefore, when Ezedoc is added to statin therapy, monitor hepatic transaminase levels before and during treatment according to the recommendations for the individual statin used. Cases of myopathy and rhabdomyolysis have been observed in patients treated with Generic Ezetimibe tablets coadministered with a statin and with Ezedoc administered alone. Risk for skeletal muscle toxicity increases with higher doses of statin, advanced age (greater than 65), hypothyroidism, renal impairment, and depending on the statin used, concomitant use of other medicines. Ezedoc Tablets (Generic Ezetimibe Tablets) Possible Side Effects Common Side effects of Ezetimibe tablets (Ezedoc) include Fatigue, Abdominal pain, Diarrhea, Infection viral, Pharyngitis, Sinusitis, Arthralgia, Back pain and Coughing. The following side effects have been reported in post-marketing experience, regardless of causality assessment: Hypersensitivity reactions, including anaphylaxis, angioedema, rash, and urticaria; arthralgia; myalgia; elevated creatine phosphokinase; myopathy/rhabdomyolysis; elevations in liver transaminases; hepatitis; thrombocytopenia; pancreatitis; nausea; dizziness; depression; cholelithiasis; cholecystitis. Ezedoc Tablets (Generic Ezetimibe Tablets) Overdosage During clinical studies, administration of Ezetimibe, 50 mg/day to 15 healthy subjects for up to 14 days, or 40 mg/day to 18 patients with primary hypercholesterolemia for up to 56 days, was generally well tolerated. A few cases of overdosage with Ezetimibe tablets (Ezedoc) have been reported; most cases have not been associated with adverse experiences. Reported adverse experiences have not been serious. Ezedoc Tablets (Generic Ezetimibe Tablets) Ezedoc Tablets During Pregnancy Ezetimibe (Ezedoc tablets) is classified by the US FDA as Pregnancy Category C. There are no adequate and well-controlled studies of Ezetimibe tablets (Ezedoc) in pregnant women. Ezetimibe can be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the risk to the fetus. In oral (gavage) embryo-fetal development studies of Ezetimibe conducted in rats and rabbits during organogenesis, there was no evidence of embryolethal effects at the doses tested (250, 500, 1000 mg/kg/day). It is not known whether Generic Ezetimibe Tablets (Ezedoc tablets) is excreted in human breast milk. Because many medicines are excreted in human milk, caution should be exercised when Ezedoc is administered to a nursing woman.
