What’s The Ideal Age For Kids To Participate In White Water Rafting?
Do you want to take your kid on a white water rafting trip? • Hold that thought… Go through this presentation first.
It will help you decide if your child is physically and mentally prepared to join the adventure.
White Water Rafting: How Safe (or Unsafe) Is It For Your Kid?
White water rafting is much more than just a recreational activity… • It requires the participants to navigate through the turbulent and fast-moving water of the river.
For some it may be a fun and adrenaline-pumping experience. • But not everyone is fond of such intense thrills.
The point we want to make here is… Don’t force your kids to take part in white water rafting. • If they’re excited about it, then that’s a completely different story.
We did some research… • But found no specific federal government (U.S.) guidelines that directly set a minimum age for rafting.
However, at the state and local levels… there are regulations that dictate age requirements for rafting. • It varies according to the river section and the class of the rapid.
Class I or II rapids are recommended for kids belonging to this age group.
Close supervision is crucial for a fun, safe, and memorable rafting experience.
Kids of this age group can easily handle Class II and III rapids. • Close supervision is also recommended for kids in this age group.
Teens are more than ready when it comes to handling Class III-IV rapids… • Rafting in that section of the river where water gets a bit turbulent is quite okay for teens.
Navigating through turbulent water requires both physical stamina and a sharp, calm mind.
If your kid is suffering from a medical condition or is specially abled, rafting is not recommended. • Specially abled kids should not left unattended while on the water.
Here’s what the key takeaways of this presentation are… #1- White water rafting is a great way to get your adrenaline pumping. #2- But it is not recommended for kids younger than five years old.
