Bike parking facilities can range from simple racks that allow you to secure your bike’s front wheel or cycle frame to having a fully lockable secured compound enclosure. With every type of option and location of the cycle, storage priority is focused on ensuring bike thefts are kept to a minimum.

Since the start of the pandemic, more people have decided to resort to bike travel to and from work, school, college, and university.   3. TYPES OF CYCLE STORAGE OFFERED BY TAMSTAR 1. SINGLE BIKE STAND: Globally this is probably the simplest and most common type of cycle storage solution, generally made from a steel-shaped hoop which can be installed below ground or surface mounted above ground using relevant ground bolts. In the UK, they are also known as Sheffield cycle stands and are available in either galvanised steel or stainless-steel finish with optional polyester powder coating. TOAST RACK STANDS: Single Sheffield cycle stands attached to horizontal steel bars form a toast rack system that allows storage of multiple bikes from 2 – 5 stands for storage of 4 – 10 bikes. 3. WHEEL RACK STANDS: Another simple and cost-effective solution consists of small chrome steel hoops connected to horizontal bars that allow front wheels to be secured by chain and padlock. These are available in a set of 5 hoops and are ideal for storing kids’ bikes when looking for an easy, cost-effective solution.

OPEN-FRONTED SHELTERS: Although available in various designs, this most common type of cycle shelter system features quadrant-shaped ends and standard clear 4mm thick Perspex sheet glazing panels along the back. Optional glazing panels are also available for the sides providing extra protection from wind and rain. The framework is manufactured from hot dipped galvanised steel manufactured to BS standards, along with various optional colour coats providing an aesthetically pleasing finish. Popular colours are Blue, Black, and Green. Our school customers also can substitute the bike racks for scooter racks, as scooters are a very popular alternative mode of transport for kids.

  7. 5. OMEGA LOCKABLE COMPOUNDS Also, a quadrant design ends with lockable side gates that can be locked on one side or both sides of the shelter. This option is available as a single- or double-sided enclosed compound complete with Sheffield toast rack stands. It is a popular choice for student accommodation areas or offices where expensive bikes are at a higher risk of theft. The shelters accommodate 10 – 20 cycles and even more.

  8. 6. CYCLE SECURITY LOCKER This option of cycle storage allows for individual bikes to be stored and locked via padlock on the compound’s front door. Made from both recyclable and recycled plastic, they are available in a variety of colours; the materials used are UV stable and offer excellent weather ability.
