  1. TO COMMUTE TO WORK, MORE PEOPLE ARE NOW CYCLING TO THEIR WORKPLACES. Many companies or organisations nowadays are implementing a cycle to work scheme. The UK government introduced this as the Finance Act 1999 as a tax exemption initiative. The purpose of this scheme is to promote a healthier way to travel to work, so that it reduces environmental pollution. Furthermore, this allows the employers to loan cyclists safety equipment and cycles itself to their employee as a tax-free benefit. As well as this, every year at the beginning of August, the UK make an event called cycle to work day. This is the one of the biggest cycling events in the UK, where everyone can participate and give cycling to work a go.
