  1. About Goa ➢ Goa, state of India, comprising a mainland district on the country’s southwestern coast and an offshore island. ➢ It is located about 250 miles south of Mumbai (Bombay). One of India’s smallest states, it is bounded by the states of Maharashtra on the north and Karnataka on the east and south and by the Arabian Sea on the west. ➢ The capital is Panaji, on the north-central coast of the mainland district.

  2. ➢ The state is divided into two districts: North Goa and South Goa. Each district is administered by a district collector, appointed by the Indian government. ➢ Panaji is the headquarters of North Goa district and is also the capital of Goa. North Goa is further divided into three Goa Map subdivisions – Panaji, Mapusa, and Bicholim.

  3. Culture Of Goa ➢ Goa is enriched with cultural heritage that include folk songs, dances, music, visual arts and folk tales. ➢ The Goans are fond of football. Environmental issues are prominently featured in Goa. ➢ It is known as a multi-ethnic state with a majority of Hindu and Muslim along with Catholic minority.

  8. Dance And Music In Goa ➢ Traditional Goan art forms are Dekhnni, Fugdi, Corridinho, Mando, Dulpod and Fado. ➢ Fugdi and Dhalo are the most common folk dances of Goa. The Kunbi is a tribal folk dance. ➢ Women holding lamps on their heads perform the lamp dance during Shigmo festival. Morulem is another traditional folk dance presented by the backward community during Shigmo.
