ELECTRIC TOOTHBRUSH VS REGULAR TOOTHBRUSH: WHICH IS BETTER? https://integritydental.com.au/
Brushing your teeth is important. You already know that (hopefully). But when it comes to an electric toothbrush vs a regular toothbrush, which tool is best for the job? We look at the pros and cons of both in this post.
WHAT ARE THE PROS AND CONS OF AN ELECTRIC TOOTHBRUSH? Pros Electric toothbrushes are effective at removing plaque. In fact, they remove more plaque than manual brushes. For people with orthodontic devices like braces, electric brushes make reaching hard-to-reach areas easier. Those with medical problems that limit mobility also find electric brushes convenient, as a lot less work is required. Other advantages of electric brushes are that they come with built-in timers (useful for ensuring you brush for long enough) and encourage good oral hygiene in children, who tend to find them more exciting to use.
Cons The main con of electric toothbrushes is that they cost more than regular toothbrushes. The brushes can be relatively expensive, and then you still need to purchase new brush heads every few months or so. Another disadvantage with the electric toothbrush vs regular toothbrush is that it takes up more space in your bathroom and luggage.
WHAT ARE THE PROS AND CONS OF A REGULAR TOOTHBRUSH? Pros Manual toothbrushes are widely available and affordable. A regular brush will typically set you back a few dollars, and there aren’t any additional parts to purchase. Moreover, manual brushes take up little space and will remove the bacteria and plaque that cause tooth decay and gum disease if you’re brushing regularly and properly.
Cons It takes some effort and skill to brush back and forth in a circular motion repeatedly with a manual toothbrush, which can be inconvenient. If you brush too hard or too soft or use poor technique, then you could potentially damage your gums and teeth or not clean them thoroughly. This is something one needs to be mindful of. Another con: regular toothbrushes don’t come with timers; you need to keep looking at a clock to make sure you brush for 2 minutes. Finally, purchasing a manual can be confusing and time-consuming, and brushes must be replaced often.
SO WHICH TOOTHBRUSH IS BETTER? Both electric and manual toothbrushes are great for keeping teeth and mouths clean. However, electric brushes offer more pros and fewer cons. Verdict on electric toothbrush vs regular toothbrush: electric is better, for most. For more information on dental hygiene products and treatments, reach out to Integrity Dental here.
