What is MDS • MDS is one of the key feature in Oracle Fusion Middleware • The term Meta refers to “A data about data” • This is the place where metadata is loaded , saved , managed • The main intention of MDS is to reuse the commonly used artifacts • It is used to categorize and discovery of Artifacts • Artifacts can be WSDL , XSD , Fault Policies etc ..
Types of MDS • We have two types of MDS • File Base MDS / Design Time MDS • DB Base MDS • File Base MDS / Design Time MDS File Base MDS is used in Design time • DB Base MDS DB based MDS is used in Run Time
How to create MDS connection • Go to File From Gallery and search for MDS and select it • Now in the connection type select either File or DB base
File Base MDS • Select Connection Type as File Based MDS • Browse for MDS root directory • By default we can see MDS directory under <Jdeveloper_Workspace>/soamds • Now test the connection
DB Based MDS • Select the connection as DB Based MDS • Create a new connection by clicking + symbol • Enter the required details and say Test Connection
How to transfer Artifacts to MDS • Right click on any artifacts then select Share using SOA Design-Time MDS Repository
Select the folder based on the artifact we selected in our case its WSDL file
How to transfer to DB • Go to Windows Resources • Now Right click on File base MDS which we created • Then click on Transfer
